Retail sales represented 16% of overall net sales for the quarter. We think this percentage is indicative of our overall business for the year as we layer on a full year of operating results for Hudson. Wholesale sales increased 66% during the quarter driven by the addition of Hudson. Our overall gross profit increased by 67% to $22.6 million from $13.5 million in the year ago period. Overall gross margin increased to 47% from 44% in the prior year period and increased mostly due to the addition of $8,512,000 in gross profit from our Hudson brand, which carries a higher average wholesale price than our Joe's brand and contributed to increase in gross margin percentage.
Use heavy scissors to cut the stuffed animals into club cover tops. If you have a larger stuffed animal with a head that is about the size of a club cover, cut the head off and remove the stuffing. If you have a smaller one that is the size of a club head by itself, cut the largest neat hole you can cut in the bottom and pull the stuffing out. You can get creative with how you want to cut them, just keep in mind that they must be large enough for a club head to fit in the hollowed out portion, and the opening must be large enough for the club head to fit through easily.
To prepare for this, the ultimate pie in the face to every disaster movie ever made, the filmmakers cast actors who appeared in their share of straight disaster films. Nielsen initially graced the genre as the ship captain in The Poseidon Adventure, delivering plot exposition in the heaviest and most gravitas laden terms imaginable. He didn alter the technique one iota for Airplane! Indeed, his Dr. Rumack seemed even less in on the joke than the captain of the Poseidon. But that self same obliviousness perfectly encapsulated the film sense of the ridiculous, creating a comedy masterpiece and allowing Nielsen to escape the made for TV stigma for good.
Being a part of the Yuri Fan label from Media Blasters, the series certainly has elements of that in these first episodes. A lot of it is just implied material and some mild hints here and there. A great deal of it can be easily written off as typical schoolgirl crushes that they have on older classmates, particularly when you're dealing with the first year students and their interactions with the fourth years and up. Some of it goes a bit more as you see Shizuma getting very close to one or two girls and her apparent interest in Nagisa as well. Shizuma is also talked about as having a number of throwaway affairs with other girls over time but that's more just some brief talk and not anything that's actually shown in any serious way. Considering some of the talk about the show, I have to admit to expecting a bit more out of it, but there's another twenty episodes to go in the show and hopefully it pushes the boundaries a bit more than it does here.
